Bhavishya E.V. launches initiative to provide food aid to immigrant workers
Since the onset of Covid-19 outbreak in India, movement restrictions are proving to be economically devastating for India’s poorest, who live in its vast rural areas. Several immigrant workers who relied on their daily wages for livelihood have had to return back to their villages and are now struggling to feed their families. With very little savings and a poor social security net, these families have fewer meals, borrowing money and braving the threat of police violence in order to go out and work.
In a bid to help these families fight starvation and survive this global pandemic, with the help of it’s India chapter, Bhavishya E.V have started the “Feed the Family of Daily Wager’ program to provide food support to such families and help them have a reliable supply of meals in the absence of employment opportunities. This is a 100% non profit campaign and all proceeds will be used in procuring and distributing meal kits to families living in and around Delhi and Bihar. Contributors can choose to support 1, 3 or 5 families for a weekly meal kit which includes 2 kg of flour, 2 kgs of rice, two types of legumes and pulses or any other essential stuff. Bhavishya EV has volunteers on ground to help ensure responsible distribution of meal kits.
